Classic Sno-Machines was founded in 1992 by 5 local (St. Joseph, MN)
residents - Ken, Vern, Don, Denny, and Doug. The first rally
consisted of a 5 mile ride from St. Joseph to Ken's house, There was
only one rule - 1973 or older Sno-machines, Ken had a 69’ Scorpion
and Doug had a 70’ Sno-Jet, about 25 people showed up on a cold
Saturday morning in January for the first annual “Classic
Sno-Machine” Rally. Doug made trophies that consisted of a bogey
wheel on a Wood Plaque. The trophies were awarded in three
categories: Original, Restored, and Best Dressed. The 3rd year the
rally became too large for Ken's garage so the decision was made to
move it to a new location in St. Anna, MN this continued through
2004, In 2005 the rally was held in conjunction with the I-94
snowmobile racing event in Freeport, MN The 2006 rally we be located
in Farming, MN. As the years went by the restorations and quality of
sleds improved greatly. Now people come from all over the Midwest
area to attend the Classic Sno-Machine Rally. A summer show was
added in 1999. 2001 was a turning point for CSM, an official club
was formed and the first issue of “Classic Sno-Machines” newsletter
was published, a quarterly 8-10 page full color newsletter full of
information and photos relating to vintage sno-machines and the
people that drive them.
